100 days and Happy New Years!

week-25

25 weeks! And today is 100 days until baby’s due date!

It’s on! The nursery is well underway, have a little under half of my cloth diaper stash, and pretty much nothing of my pre-pregnancy clothing fits anymore.

It seems fitting that New Years Eve is the beginning of the “day” not week, not month, not season countdown…but baby will be here come April whether we are ready or not!

Symptoms: TIRED, but trying to get lots of work in now while I have SOME energy to set me set up for a proper maternity leave! Still breaking out, and getting bigger…1 more week (depending what you read) until Trimester 3!

All About Baby

Baby could now survive in the outside world (with the expertise and modern technology of a NICU).

  • She’s enjoying her new sense of equilibrium — she now knows which way is up and which is down.
  • She’s growing more fat and more hair too!

And just because I am excited about how darn cute they are, here are the cloth diapers I picked up today!

Alouette Christmas Tree Farm

This weekend we went with my Parents, nephews and sister to find the perfect tree for my parents house. We went to Alouette Christmas Tree Farm which is not too far from our place. They had donkeys and goats to visit, Train rides on a tractor and hot chocolate…and of course Christmas Trees! Here are a few photos from out outing.

23 Weeks

week-23

Symptoms: TIRED! Starting to have cravings for sweets, which is not a good thing during Christmas time when they are so easily available and something I should be staying away from! Starting to miss having options for clothing, I have enough maternity clothes for now, but I am just tired of them.

GEAR: On the look out for a bassinet mattress, who knew they were hard to come by! (And who makes a bassinet with no way to put sheets on it anyways?) Also went in search for cloth diapers…however didn’t find any of the kind I want of the right type. The search is still on!

All About Baby

Your baby’s the size of a grapefruit!
At about 10.5 to 11.8 inches and about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces, baby’s not just getting bigger, she’s getting even cuter.
  • She’s forming little nipples (yeah, really!)
  • Her face is fully formed now — she just needs a little extra fat to fill it out.
  • She’s listening to your voice and your heartbeat — and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.

Spinach Smoothie

I always thought of myself as “fairly Healthy” when it comes to eating. I got used to making sure I got enough iron and calcium and protein over years of being vegetarian, borderline anemic and lactose intolerant. And I have come to love vegetables in my adult life. However, pregnancy has robbed me of any desire to have vegetables, which has made eating even “ok” a challenge.

Recently I had a friend mention, “why not make smoothies, you can hide all kinds of good stuff in them”. So I went out and bought a blender (The one kitchen item we didn’t get when we got married) and today experimented with my first “add some veggies to a smoothie” drink.

Spinach Smoothie Experiment #1

1 handful of baby spinach

1 full banana

 Strawberry Yogurt

Almond Milk

I must say it was a success…I might even add more spinach next time as all I really tasted was the banana and the yogurt….yum strawberry banana with hidden veggies. I am officially excited to try more creations!

22 Weeks

week-22

22 Weeks already! Had a verrrry cold week with temps below 0 all week, with windchill as cold as -17! Also got (almost) all the Christmas presents wrapped and under the tree!

Symptoms: Just tired! Who knew being awake for more then 2 hours in a row took so much energy! Also starting to feel “Big”…bought maternity clothes off craigslist as my “normal clothes” officially do not fit, and it takes energy to get up from sitting or doing up my shoes/boots.

Milestones: BABY is moving! Feeling her rolling around and fish flopping daily now…usually in the morning and early afternoon… Hoping this means she plans on being awake in the day and sleep at night come April! At my prenatal appointment this week her heartbeat came in at 158, and my belly is measuring small, but I was told not to worry, just means I “carry well”.

All About Baby

  • Now that she’s got more developed eyes and lips, he’s looking even more like a newborn.
  • She’s sleeping in cycles — about 12 to 14 hours per day (hint: they’re probably those times you’re not feeling any kicks!).
  • As her digestive system preps for the outside world, she’s manufacturing meconium — the tarry black substance you’ll find in her first dirty diaper (ew)!
  • If it’s a girl, she’s already got a lifetime’s supply of eggs in her womb — about six million of them!
