Babymoon!

BABYMOON – Whistler, BC

We knew we needed to get away sooner rather then later if we wanted to get away as just us before baby comes. Winter is just way to busy to try and get away for us. We also knew we didn’t want to spend a TON of money travelling somewhere, so Whistler seemed like a good compromise.

Whistler in the fall is very different and quiet compared to Whistler in the summer or winter when we have been before. There is not really any of the usual outdoor stuff to do there, and most of what was there I couldn’t do while pregnant, but it was still a great weekend away. We spent a lot of time just hanging out in the condo by ourselves in front of the fireplace, ate at a few new places in the village and went on a scenic drive of the nearby lakes, or just sitting in the sun at the park enjoying the last warmth of the season.

We also took our time coming back home and stopped at a few places we had “always wanted to stop” but never had. Alice lake, Poteau Cove, the Cypress viewpoint were the most notable ones!

16 Weeks

16 Weeks

As you can see I am totally rocking the leggings with sweater dresses/long shirts these days. Seriously comfort trumps all these days! Bump is starting to be a “real bump” that is not entirely dependent on what I ate that day!

Symptoms: Still off and on with the morning sickness and general lack of appetite…but baby seems to be letting me eat a little bit more these days. Have not had to miss as much work lately which is a good thing! The pain from my cyst seems to be mostly gone as well! The strangest and scariest new development is FAINTING (and lightheadedness). A couple weeks ago I fainted in the store and fell right over, hitting my stomach on the way down and getting some nice bruises up my side!

After going to the Dr, and making sure baby was ok (heartbeat still going strong!), the Dr. figures its just that I am tall and don’t have a lot of extra weight on me so my heart is still catching up to pumping all the extra blood…so pretty much there is nothing I can do about except sit down often and especially if I am starting to feel faint, and not push myself at all. Apparently this is normal for a small percentage of pregnant women. Thankfully the bruising is mostly gone and I am able to function a bit better these days!

Gear Update: My Mother in Law is the best! Check out this awesome set up she bought for us this week!!! The Graco Day2Night Sleep and Play system! It’s got everything you could possibly need for a trip away from home with baby…or even a “too lazy to go upstairs to change or put baby to bed” day.

All About Baby

  • She’s listening to your voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in her ears.
  • She’s growing hair, lashes and eyebrows.
  • And she’s forming taste buds.

Laity Pumpkin Patch

Lets take a break from Pregnancy posts for a minute and check out the fun we had with the nephews at Laity Pumpkin Patch on the weekend! It was an absolutely gorgeous fall day with lots of stuff on the farm for the kids to do!

14 weeks!

week-14_2

14 Weeks

Symptoms: Momma has had a rough couple weeks. Last weekend the pain started. At first it was just a bit of a crampy feeling….but it got worse to the point I could hardly stand and when I did it hurt more then anything I have ever experienced before. By Tuesday it was so bad that I ended up in the ER. After waiting around for hours they basically told me, baby has a heartbeat and maybe I pulled something. The next day my OB called to go over some test results with me and after going in to see him he said it seems more like a Corpus Luteum Cyst on my ovary. Apparently its fairly normal as early pregnancy sends massive amounts of hormones to the reproductive system and some of those hormones are not needed and create a hard cyst…..then when the hormone surges die down as the baby relies more on the placenta….that cyst either will start to shrink (which is painful) or burst (also painful) at around 12-15 weeks. Have been told to wait it out, but it sure does hurt!

Baby is still being a picky eater….even though I have my appetite back, I can’t eat! NOTHING sounds good and even when something does, one or two bites into it I feel like I can’t eat anymore! Have lost 7lbs total now, although you wouldn’t know that by looking at me, and somehow none of my pants fit!

Nursery Update: The nursery is painted! Its brighter then I expected, but its done and that’s the main thing! Now to start the decorating! Grandma (my mom) brought over a bassinet and Grandma Ginny brought over some very cute newborn outfits. Its starting to feel very real seeing baby stuff in the house!

All About Baby

  • He’s probably sucking his thumb and wiggling his toes in there!
  • His kidneys are making urine, and his liver and spleen are doing their jobs, too.
  • And he’s growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over his body — it will help him keep warm!
